Carl Millington's HOn2.5 Modelling, The Early Years

Working in the sugar industry, with good access to photograph and measure sugar cane railway locomotives and rolling stock, Carl's modelling has consistently improved. This page shows some of his earlier modelling. He subsequently moved to the Mackay area, where he works for QR and continues to model Queensland cane.

Carl's scratch built HOn30 Isis Mill tamper (head photo) is one of the finest pieces of Queensland cane modelling you'll find anywhere.

Carl says "I model modern day diesels and cane bins and am currently working on a new layout (6.5 x 8 m, see mud map, right). This will be my third layout, having moved from Sydney to the Sunshine Coast this year (2000)."

"I model in HOn2.5, using commercially available kits, like Chivers & Far North Hobbies, together with scratch & kit bashed models. Most of the cane bins are Bob Dow models. The attached file [link below] is a list of the motive power I currently have. I also model QR in HOn3.5, so there will be a drawbridge & diamond crossing somewhere on the layout."
